East Nashville
If you are interested in creating a cohousing neighborhood in East Nashville, we would love to hear from you. There are some possibile sites, including a site of almost 4 acres near Shelby Bottoms. There is another spot in Inglewood of 2 acres. Please contact nashvillecohousing@gmail.com. We will be setting up a meeting shortly to explore purchasing property in the 37206 or 37216 neighborhood.
Rural Cohousing
The Rural Cohousing Group will be looking at a 22 acre spot on Craggie Hope in Kingston Springs. They will meet on Saturday, June 30 at 1:00 at Craggie Hope United Methodist Church, which is adjacent to the property. For more information, contact Linda Ray Miller at nashvillecohousing@gmail.com.
Urbandale Nations
We would also love to create an urban community in the Urbandale Nations neighborhood. The focus will be on affordable housing and a supportive community for people who are transitioning from homelessness, as well as doing our best not to "change" the neighborhood, but rather, "enhance" the neighborhood to be a safe and stable place for the residents who already live there. We are currently working with a neighborhood group interested in maintaining the charm of smaller homes in the area, as well as groups interested in creating more affordable housing. If you are interested in this possibility, please contact Heather Rippetoe at aunthahey@yahoo.com.
Hermitage
We are also looking for a site in Hermitage that will be more rural in feel, but close to public transportation and the greenway. We hope to find a site of several acres with access to a open space.
Other Areas of Interest
We are committed to helping any group to get started in a cohousing adventure. If you know of a property, and know several friends who would be interested in living in community, let us know. All we need is a small group that has interest, and some cash to get started to purchase the property.
If you would like to find out more about any of these communities,
contact us at nashvillecohousing@gmail.com>
